We are so privileged to have this beautiful place of pilgrimage on our doorsteps. However as you may well imagine, the upkeep and maintenance of both St Francis Xavier Parish & Carfin Grotto comes at a hefty financial cost. This cost is borne by the parishioners of St Franics Xavier Parish and the many pilgrims who visit the shrine. We receive no other financial help from either the Diocese of Motherwell or any other diocese in the Catholic Church in Scotland to maintain the Grotto.
