On Saturday 25th June 2016, John Paul McShane from St Francis Xavier's Parish was ordained a Deacon at Oscott Seminary, Birmingham. He was ordained by Archbishop Bernard Longley of Birmingham and in the presence of Bishop Joseph Toal. John Paul was ordained alongside his fellow seminarians, including Bruce McPhail from St Margaret's Parish Airdrie, who is also studying for priesthood in this Diocese.
Ordination to the Diaconate is the final major step for John Paul and Bruce who, God willing, will be ordained to the Priesthood in 2017.
Our congratulation to Deacon John Paul McShane & Deacon Bruce McPhail from everyone in St Francis Xavier's Parish. May the Lord bless both men as they begin their ministry as Deacons. Please continue to pray for these men on their journey to the Priesthood for this Diocese.
